This project is for giant individuals of the larger growing Eucalypt species. Eucalypts refers to the genera in tribe Eucalypteae.

A Eucalypt may qualify as a giant based on its trunk girth or height. The thresholds for trunk girth and height vary with the species.

This project prompts you to enter the trunk girth and/or height.

If you have to measure the trunk girth, a tape measure should be used. Measure trunk girth (circumference) at 1.3m above the ground. If on a steep slope measure the 1.3m on the high side, to avoid the buttress exaggerating the trunk girth. Height is most accurately measured by LiDAR or a laser sighting tool. Clinometers and clinometer apps can also be used but they are difficult to use in areas with a dense understorey or difficult terrain.

What about individual Eucalypts that are not giants for their species but are clearly big? These Eucalypts also contain many tree hollows and are significant carbon stores.
