The following photos are from this excellent document (I’ve reordered the photos for ease of comparison):
A Guide to the Identification of Wild Mallows (by Jose Potter Butler [@joepb], William Reinders [@reinderw], April 2021).
Updated 2024-04-10: added links to more info for each species.

This is really helpful. Thank you!
This is great, @truthseqr!
As requested, posting a link to my (likely evolving) journal post on Malva:

@reinderw, @joepb, I'd like to invite you to join our project. We could really use your expertise. There are many misidentifications of this genus in California, which throw off the iNaturalist computer vision (CV) algorithm to the point where it usually suggests Malva parviflora for virtually all Malva observations.

Also, please see Fred Watson's journal post above for issues we're struggling with.
Thanks for your work on Malva. I will be more careful with my observations in the future.
@connieruth, it's a learning experience for all of us. I'm glad you find the references helpful.
Very helpful comparison chart. Thank you.
Great work!
The chart is a great help but would be even more helpful if there was a key the numbered rows.
@bjw1633, I've added a key to the numbered rows along with links to more info for each species.
Great! It makes it so much easier to make use of the chart. Thank you!
Super helpful! Thank you for sharing this on my obs @truthseqr !
Thank you for sharing this
This is great; I need a similar chart for the thistles I run into. I always seem to misidentify those and the mallows. Thanks
