Nice look at side-entry of Japanese Andromeda/P. japonica flowers, "robbing" nectar. The pollen on thorax hairs is presumably from another flower species since I don't think Colletes buzz pollinate and this is an Ericaceae.

Not the first butterfly species I expected to see this year. I've only seen one of these once before. This will be the 22nd observation of the species in NYC on inNat. Beautiful blue flashes of the wings in flight.

Description
I opened one of the common mugwort stem galls that @susanhewitt and I found yesterday on Governors Island. The larva inside was 4-5 mm long and looks consistent with those being identified as Mordellistena sp. in the ongoing study of this gall. The stem swelling was a fairly large one, perhaps 1 cm in diameter, but the larva seemed to be occupying only a small part of it. I'll attempt to rear out the others over the winter.
Location is where found; date/time are when I opened it to examine it.

[Also in vicinity was a Killdeer, possibly at nest in marsh, last 3 images. Clapper Rail may have had a nest too, not sure.]
