Description
Observations
Collected at Michigan Hollow Swamp, Danby State Forest, Danby, NY on 9/13/23, in a deciduous (maple) forest at relatively high elevation and has many small creeks but was very dry on the day of collection.
Found growing on living maple tree that was relatively young compared to the surrounding trees. The top and bottom are both white to cream. The top has rings of knobs and moss while the bottom has pores in a labyrinthine pattern. The whole shelf mushroom is fan shaped and the pores near where the mushroom connected to the tree are lamellate. The tops of the younger samples also have some tiny hairs that give them a fuzzy feeling compared to the larger, adult specimen. The large specimen is roughly 20 cm from side-to-side and 9 cm from base-to-opposite-edge (looking from the top or bottom, base meaning the place where the mushroom connects to the tree). The small specimens range from 4.5 to 6.5 cm side-to-side and 3 to 5 cm base-to-opposite-edge. The labyrinthine pores average between 1 and 3 mm in length.
No specific odor, fleshy and not strongly attached to the tree.

Description
Best guess but could be wrong, cap was mottled light brown with dark brown splotches and a slightly darker ring of color around the margin. Found growing from a piece of wood, presumably hardwood in a densely mossy area of mixed forest. Spore print was dark purple.

Description
Funnel-shaped cap growing saprophyticly on presumed conifer stump. Margin is golden to orange-gold (color perhaps exaggerated by sunlight shining through permeable edges). Warted like Golden Philiota, but no observable stipe. KOH 10% reacts reddish brown on interior surface (last photo). Cannot tell if alive or dead/deteriorating.
