Description
1000++ nests over the entire base path on a town ballfield. Photo 2 shows the area around 1st base bag. Photo 3 is a closeup of a portion of this same area. Photo 4 is home plate.
Greater number of nests observed in the clay-colored substrate on the base paths compared with the grey substrate on home plate and the pitcher's mound.
A few individuals of Nomada lehighensis were observed parasitizing the nests. See observation https://www.inaturalist.org/observations/213534760

For my first-ever sighting of a Prothonotary Warbler, (not so common around here), I'd have preferred a more-natural setting than him perched on the windshield of my truck, apparently attracted to Vermont's yellow inspection sticker, but sometimes one doesn't get a choice.

Description
Long-eared Owl
Two crows called me over, then moved a couple hundred feet away to the ground and quietly foraged.
I couldn't find the crows' concern at first, expecting a fox, but encountered the owl behind a pine trunk.
Four Blue Jays followed me; the jays hopped around silently inspecting the owl, while I hurriedly snapped photos; then I quickly retreated.

I believe all photos show the same Spiny Softshell Turtle and most photos also include a Map Turtle. They changed sunning rocks during the time I watched. In photo #3 just the head of the Map Turtle shows above the water at the upper right.
