One of my personal favorite photos here since I recreated the iconic faceoff of the King of the Monsters himself and the Queen of the Monsters herself - Godzilla vs. Mothra. The live little actress playing Mothra was treated with careful and thoughtful consideration for her safety and the safety of her future offspring, because she was heavily full of eggs as shown in the photo.

Well, what can I say… my camera battery died like one minute before we saw it :P my buddy took some great pictures of it, maybe I can convince him to donate one of them to iNat…
Update: My buddy allowed me to use his picture here. Uploaded above.

16 mm long. One of two specimens found by my friend Kate Wayne on this date. Aside from a specimen collected from near Humboldt Bay and identified from an undated photograph (McDonald 1983, p. 163), these were the first specimens of this species known from outside the type locality at Point Loma, San Diego County, CA. Image from a 35 mm slide.

Found as is, at the edge of the subtidal. This species is rarely found intertidally, so this was a real treat. The slug was about 70 mm long and probably had been foraging for the polyps of Discophyton rudyi, the finger nail-sized, pale salmon colored soft coral colonies scattered above the slug in this image. Middle Cove, Cape Arago, 3 July 2008.
