Hard to spot, only a couple of individuals seen, haven't relocated since 2017, but cutting taken then is growing well and available for ID confirmation and material for restoration of degraded areas at that site.

Description
Of 50-100 planted, 1 survived. Wrong niche selected. This species seems to prefer slightly drier areas underneath or to the south of other larger bushes. A bit difficult to tell exactly what community it cooccoured in as it is Extinct in the wild; but some useful data for modeling this found at Tokai.

Lycopodium gnidioides
A clubmoss - one of the 'fern allies' - an intriguing early vascular plant. I have taken a close-up of a branch showing the much more open lance shaped leaves and the tightly tiled triangular sporophylls protecting the sporangia sacs on their inner surfaces.
Did you know that Lycopodium powder (spores) can be ignited into spectacular fireballs - much loved by magicians?
