Description
The cone-like buds look like Forestiera. F. shrevei would be the logical choice based on range, but the leaves don't look pubescent at all. F. angustifolia is worth considering (similar leaf shape, glabrous) but would seem to be a rather large range extension. Worth a closer look.

Description
V106. Growing at about 3300 ft. elevation in the shade under a mesquite tree. It showed no apparent change in external appearance after 24 hours to see if it would mature.
