Sighting and photos (c) superspotter111.
Habitat - On an open plain
How many? - 2
Additional comments? - 2 grey-white birds of prey, either black-shouldered kite or grey falcon. Unfortunately the photos decreased in quality through the download but might be able to get better quality later if not identifiable from these photos. It seems to have the black tips on the primaries that would suggest a grey falcon and although it’s hard to see, the feet on the 1st photo are easy to see and seem to be a bit bigger in size than a black-shouldered kite. The habitat also suits the grey falcon better as it is a desert with a small thermal spring nearby, which the two birds were swooping down over. However, since the grey falcon is so rare it may just be a black-shouldered kite in a less suiting habitat.
Nest present - No
Behavior - Swooping

This pair of now extinct Golden Toads was photographed at the entrance to the Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve where they were kept for visitors to the park to see since their observance in the wild was limited to only a few days a year during the onset of their breeding season (late May & early June). This species is sexually dimorphic, the males are bright orange or yellow and females are dark brown with red spots.

Description
Date is approximate. 3 individuals (2 males & 1 female) seen sometime in April, 1987. My mother and father (@dmpeterson ) were living in Monteverde in the spring of 1987, staying with the Gavin family. I have been digitizing their old slides, and thought these ones were significant, so I uploaded them. The date and location are approximate, based on their best recollection.
