This was one of several species of moth that came to baited treetrunks along a trail. The specimen in the photo is the one my observation refers to.
This moth is a Lithophane species near L. scottae. Jim Troubridge, the author of the species L. scottae says he is not sure what this specimen is. He believes it may be an undescribed species. Genetic material will be submitted to barcoding to help determine where this specimen belongs in the genus.
I've added photos of the genitalia to supoort this observation. Credit goes to Jim Vargo of Indiana for the genitalic photos.
