Description
Measured ~12 mm in length (ventral side shown with ruler image while still wet from pond water). The wing membrane is hyaline and veins are yellow/gold. Body long, slender, black with yellow markings, legs mostly yellow except for dark femurs dorsal side, yellow clypeus and mandibles except dark tip of tooth. Had a curved "pseudostinger" at the tip of the abdomen, upwardly curved, "hook-like" terminal spine (= "uncus") (BugGuide descriptions for males). Also, females in the Thynnidae family are wingless. Hind tibia appeared to have short, small, tooth-like projections. Rescued from a garden pond, fully recovered, and flew off. Apparently parasitoids of white grubs (scarab larvae).
