Gynoplistia magnifica - female
female flagellum with 16 joints, first 8 bearing short projections
Medium sized mushroom with dark brown gills, and rather narrow stipe growing under English beech tree in the leaf mould. Spore print is black, spores tear drop shaped with textured appearance. The cap is light in colour, and somewhat downy in texture.
I hope this isn't just another introduced species
Abrotanella, uncommon, one plant found growing under boulder on track
Syrphidae: Eristalis tenax - Drone Fly, female, 16 mm
Gittos Domain. East of Sandy Bay, side of track along top of coastal cliffs. Several adults observed on the underside of leaf blades of Astelia banksii. Photos 1-3 show an adult male.
Had been paralysed by a shiny blue/black hunting wasp. An ID would be most appreciated.
