Description
This is the first and only time that I’ve seen Hericium in Mary Cairncross Scenic Reserve in the 15 years I’ve been walking there. It was growing on a large fallen rainforest tree trunk (possibly white booyong, Argyrodendron trifoliatum) that was riddled with borer grub holes (wattle grubs?).
This log crumbled to wood crumbs within about four years.

Description
There might be three Hericium species here…definitely coralloides, the one next to it looks like erinaceus. The third photo is almost a cross…americanum? All about softball sized. All on the same log.
