Found this interesting hopper on a goldenrod in the backyard. It was not quite half an inch long and very unbothered by my putting my phone up close for photos. Taking the family suggestion from the ID algorithm for now. An observation for the goldenrod can be seen here: https://www.inaturalist.org/observations/239658323

This species was rediscovered in 2015, as it had not been seen since the original and previously only specimen was collected in 1970, with the rediscovery officially published in 2017. This species is endemic to western Colombia, and this is likely one of the only pictures of a live individual online.
This photo is not the best for confirming the species; however I did come back to this spot, and got excellent photos of the appendages; confirming that this is E. sabaleticus. I will be adding that record soon. This species is known from Panama, though this is the first record of the species on iNaturalist.
In emergent seep/groundwater wetland. I did not expect to find this species here, given regional distribution. Many individuals were present.
I found this individual along the trail that leads to the small creek where people get their water for Rancho Plastico. About 50m before reaching the creek. The first 5 photos are when I first spotted it (ie. not posed); the subsequent macro photos were taken carefully and gently to confirm ID (based on Calvert 1924).
This record extends the range of P. augusti about 200km to the south-east. Nobably within 30km of the Columbian border where this species has not yet been recorded.

Found a couple of them running along a forested dirt road on a ridge. They never fly but just run along the road.
