Painted turtle appears to be eating algae off the shell of the snapping turtle, which has its head above water and is swimming.
In this same location on 12 July, I observed a painted turtle making relatively violent bites on the neck of a snapper that never lifted its head out of the water. I'm not certain that snapper was alive. https://www.inaturalist.org/observations/181135100
Video is available of both incidents.

The painted turtle appears to be eating algae off the shell of the snapping turtle. The snapping turtle is keeping its snout above water, and swimming, so I'm certain it was alive. Earlier this season in the exact same location, 12 July , I'd observed and videoed a painted turtle making relatively violent bites on the neck of a snapper. That snapper never lifted its head above water, and I'm not certain that it was alive.

Description
Seeking suggestions. These sounds were recorded during a span of 4 minutes. The animal was out of view along the bank of the old Ohio & Erie Canal. There is still, non-flowing water. I was facing east toward the water and the presumed frog was along the bank nearest to me, a drop of maybe 2 feet, so I couldn't see anything. From the recordings, it doesn't seem to me to be in distress, but it's possible it was being preyed upon by a snake. I've played a CD published by ODNR Division of Wildlife of Nocturnal Wildlife Sounds and to me the pitch sounds closest to a Wood Frog, but they are past their breeding peak.

I was amazed to find this Sierran Treefrog trying to make a meal of a juvenile Taricha.
When I flipped the log the newt was upside down and in the frog's mouth, but was soon let go. The frog's tongue stuck out for a few seconds afterwards, I'd like to think due to awesome tetrodotoxin.
