I was photographing some flowers when I found this red ball on a leaf. I have no clue what it is or if it's even 'life'.
Any ideas?

Caught this while out fishing. Does anyone know what all these black things are on the plant? Part of the plant or something else?

Inat keeps coming up with red-eye vireo or warbling vireo. Thoughts?
Also, there were two -- my birding partner also so two but I'm seeing number two never made it into the photos.

Description
I have been intrigued by the number of trees in Fort Snelling with large patches of light bark so I took a photo of one today. Investigation suggest this could be a result of the Emerald Ash Borer. But I guess the first step is identifying the tree. I suspect it's an Ash but I'm not terribly confident. If anyone has an opinion on the 'blond' bark, I would be excited to hear it.
