Description
Front porch visitor. Perhaps sad underwing, which I see regularly as adults, and perhaps Common Oak Moth, suggested by Identrotron. The upside down winecup patterning suggests sad underwing to me. @k8thegr8

Description
White frass found at base of R. laciniata. Stem breaks easily revealing hollowed out base. Larva was at/just below ground level. Initially black head capsule, but red after molt. No gall/swelling of plant.

Description
A caterpillar was found in the stem of Collinsonia canadensis. It had bored out the lower 4 inches of the stem, to the root crown, but it was staying in the stem. Collected for rearing.
