Description
Growing on a heritage Texas live oak by a heavy traffic roadway (south congress) it has older colonies that look like they’ve been collected. This is a parasitic fungi that attaches to oaks and eucalyptus. Perhaps we are seeing this fungi attach to This oak because of a eucalyptus population that has started here in Austin. This heritage Oak is relatively one block away from a eucalyptus tree. The type collection, made in San Francisco's Golden Gate Park in 1997, was found fruiting on a eucalyptus tree. The fungi seems to also fruit on rotting or dead hardwood
