Description

1st known record of this species in the lower 48/mainland North America. Originally spotted on 10/15/22 around 10:30am by a birder. More reports came in on 10/16/22. I drove up on 10/17/22 and started looking around 11:07am. Was located by fellow birders around 12:40pm. Was extremely active and did not sit still for more than a few seconds. Was flying between trees feeding. Eventually flew off around 12:55pm.

Relocated the individual a block away in a eucalyptus tree around 2:00pm. Still extremely active and appeared to be feeding. Eventually flew off and wasn’t relocated before I left.
