A young clumping individual. The sole Saurauia sp. in Singapore, but apparently one of the most common Saurauia in Malaysia (Rafidah, 2013). It tends to clump together. The red prickle-like scales are abundant, especially near the apical bud where these red prickle-like scales are flat. Edges of leaves serrated with erect prickle-like scales, especially on the midrib and evenly spread out over the surface of reddish-brown young leaves. These red prickle-like scales also appear on the younger parts of the stem.
