Description
Endemic to Aprada tepui. It was once believed that this species inhabited all tepui summits surrounding the Chimanta' Massif (the name satelles = satellite), but recent morphometric and genetic investigation has revealed more complex speciation of these very widely distributed subpopulations on different tepuis. See the definitive investigation here by P Kok: Head in the clouds: two new microendemic tepui-summit species of Stefania (Anura: Hemiphractidae)

Description
Endemic to tepui summits of the Chimanta' Massif in Venezuela. This genus of frog carries fertilized eggs on the back to maturity at which time fully developed juvenile frogs disperse from the mother. there is evidence in the family Hemiphractidae that the eggs develop an "umbilicus-like" attachment to the skin of the female during development.
This species is nocturnal and must be searched for at night. Occasionally individuals are observed under rocks during daylight hours. It is unknown if different populations on individual tepuis of the Chimanta' Massif may represent genetically distinct species due to geographic populational isolation.
