White-throated Swift hit the reflective window of my office. After hearing it hit, I went outside and discovered it upside down on the ground. After holding it for about 10 minutes, it flew off on its own from my hand, shaken but not broken. Video of the encounter here:

A fallen branch around 60 cm long, stems woody.
Seed photos taken two weeks later, stem cross-section photo taken four years later.
I watched this Australasian Darter for a good 5 mins trying to swallow this fish and failing.
It was definitely biting off more than it can chew!
Melanistic juvenile (likely male based on size relative to the Great-tailed Grackle it was feeding upon). Verified by William Clark, and Lance and Jill Morrow. First observed by M. Silvas with me, and I shouted "melanistic Cooper's Hawk, OMG" as I identified the bird preliminarily, before submitting it to experts for review.

Can't tell if this is a Madtom or a bullhead. Going with Bullhead for now based on similar observations, but open to suggestions.

Not much plankton but it was nice to see one of these. I also saw a small Lampea Ctenophore.
Just before sunset, bird flew in from the ocean just south of the jetty, circled the pond behind the dunes and flew back out over the ocean headed south - If someone could help with age, etc - thanks in advance - only the second PAJA I have seen -
The fledgling and several insects were impaled on barbed wire in a cow pasture and close to a hickory tree. A pair of shrike was observed visiting an active nest 20’ up in the tree.

Coyote barked for about a half hour. After she went on her way I checked out the area. About 100 ft ahead of her (in the direction she had been barking) smelled like a skunk had sprayed. Maybe they ran into one another?
Holding bread given her by a local resident.
