Description
Found this adult male in a roadside ditch while I was out scouting the area during daylight in preparation for a night-time amphibian survey planned for later that evening. The first Blanding's I'd ever found myself in the wild! Of course it was by the last coastal wetland in that area of the south shore of Georgian Bay; it was slated for development despite all the obvious development constraints of building next to a wetland

A bird's (phoebe?) distress call caused me to look up from the water where I was kayaking. When I approached the tree to get a better picture, the snake retreated into the hole in the tree.

Description
Witnessed to be bitten by a young cottonmouth. The viper was unfortunately spooked, but the garter appeared to survive the bite, despite appearing in every way to be very dead for about 20 minutes!
Also… this species is a fairly rare find in this location!

Description
Witnessed one turtle covering a nest, as well as one baby crossing a road. Later saw the nesting turtle, and one other adult heading toward the Georgian Bay shoreline.
A biologist who lives next to where the nest/young turtle were found, apparently took the babY to the shoreline and watched it swim off into the waters of Georgian Bay
