So far, at least three adult males have been reported in this stretch of the river and some females as well. This male was displaying, by puffing up his feathers and flying above the reeds.
I found two breeding males today. This one was in the main river channel near the dam.
A group of avid birders were heading to a spot adjacent to the golf course where a male Pintailed Whydah in breeding plumage was impressing a couple of females.
These birds sort of slide/swipe when they walk forward. They are all together in one same area. It seems as if the mother takes them there so they can eat on their own picking up food from the ground while she flies, looking for other foods and taking it to them.
