This turtle was found and brought into our yard by our dogs. He was unharmed and released in a steep wooded area up next to our home...hopefully protected from tractor activity. We live in a semi cleared rough terrain that has open grazing and wooded areas with thick yaupon coverage, deep ravines that are seasonally wet and very steep. There is a seasonal creek that encompasses our 90 acres. I hope he survives and we see more of his species. This was the first one I have seen in our 13 years here on our property.
I found this little guy as I was watering my plants. I'm wondering if there could be others still around. Any help on identifying it would be greatly appreciated!
found while night-driving for herps somewhere outside of Needles, in California. The location is random, as I don't recall if it was north or south of Needles, but it was off main roads. Photo'd in hand in the headlights and released unharmed. Digitized from slide

Snake observed on dirt path near Balboa Sports Complex. It was run over by a bicycle as I was walking by and it moved. No rattle observed. Easily around 3 feet long.
About 8” long, brown thin body, dark head with light collar. On gravel and dirt driveway around 5pm. Was stretched out long probably sunning but accelerated away quickly in S movements.

Not sure if we can tell what it caught but giving it a try
Found within 100 feet of another one.
This 2 1/2 to 3 foot long snake had its head missing and was partially eaten but had not been on this location for more than 2 hours. Maybe its carcass was placed there by its predator( in the middle of the road)
