Only one plant, along the shore. Found during scouting R&R sites
Acer saccharum in limestone woodland of Ostrya virginiana, Tilia americana, Fraxinus, Thuja occidentalis, and Acer saccharum
This species was observed on the bank of the Grasse River at Willow Park, Canton NY, on June 17, 2013. Unfortunately I have lost the photos of the original observed plants. I did however gather seeds and propagated them in my garden. Photos 1- 2 from the left were taken in 2016. Since then the plant has naturally propagated and has become a bit of a nuisance. Photos 3-4 were taken in 2024.
Viburnum nudum var. cassinoides
Wild Raisin
An incredible find today by @amjohnson - few dozen clumps growing in drawdown in disturbed wetland. Not the place a botanist typical goes! AFAIK this is the first report for NYS since 1935!
long ligule, hairy keel, scabrous sheath, conspicuous lateral veins
