Bat was observed out in the open during the busy lunch hour in downtown Los Angeles. Unfortunately, the bat was no longer there once staff from the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County attempted to retrieve it. This is a very rare occurrence for this species in the Los Angeles basin.
