Not fully satisfied with this one as I did not find one in the Costa Rican Manual that had such prominent inflorescences from the leaf axils and the reduced leaves.
S. divaricatus is the only species of genus Sclerocarpus in the checklist of Costa Rica, but the observation looks more like S. phyllocephalus (inflorescence, leaf, hairs), observed so far in Nicaragua, Honduras and Guatemala.
