Morton's Cockle (Laevicardium mortoni)

Observer

Date

August 21, 2024 09:05 AM EDT

Description

Two well-marked individuals from the SE corner of Shinnecock Bay at the intersection of Meadow Lane and Road "D". I saw about 100 pairs and/or single valves, mostly in the smaller size range. This represents a nice rebound after the mass mortality of the prior cohort at this site at the end of summer 2022.
