Bindweed blooming on top of a lilac bush appears to be a butterfly mecca.
This skipper-sized lepidoptera fascinated me, because I've never seen one like it before.
Mating. Maybe Impatiens again?

Bindweed blooming on top of a lilac bush appears to be a butterfly mecca.
I think it is a species of blister beetle but haven't found a match yet. There is a reason for that...it is a soldier beetle...a Pennsylvania Leather-wing.
Unsure if these were seeded - possibly part of a 'native prairie mix' sown along the roadside. Found with coneflowers.

Bill appears to be dark and not yellow, reasoning behind Golden.
Have observed adult Goldens last year near here on CT River.
