Beneath glass overpass between msee and bhee
This snake was a few feet away from the water at Hinson Lake. Its head was NOT wider than its body. It was about 2 feet long. I saw no color other than gray (but I did not see its ventral side). I know this isn't much to go on, but can you identify the species?
Returning adult light morph Harlan's or Harlan's intergrade. Everything about this bird to me looks like a light morph Harlan's with the possible exception of the red banded tail. For that reason I suspect this bird is possibly an intergrade with a borealis or abieticola. Incredibly gorgeous bird that has returned now for at least the third consecutive winter.
