In mixed conifer subalpine forest; on soil
Firmly attached to shrubby cinqufoil roots, when broken off stipe peeled. Near aspen & spruce. Solitary. Found along Galloping Goose Trail.
Smells piney, spicy.
Riparian area with mostly Narrow leaf cottonwoods, but there are also ponderosa pine, cedar, and spruce scattered around the area. This specimen was found under an older spruce with a deep duff layer.

This was a small coral mushroom about the size of a quarter growing in association with mixed conifers, douglas fir, subalpine fir, spruce. I am not sure which genus it is in and thought Lentaria was the closest match as the tips of the branches are not "Ramaria-like" and the branches are spread further apart.
