HISTORIC PHOTOS.
About 9 inches big, long sharp pointy beak, red hair on the top of head, whitish gray face, black body, pecking multiple holes in palm tree.
With Valeri Ponzo. We walked all the usual trails in the usual order. The entrance trail was rather flooded. The weather at 1333, when we left, was sunny and 86 degrees ("feels like" 94).
A solo visit; a skywatch from the southern mound.
With Valeri Ponzo, Don Fraser, and Elsa Alvear; a successful chase of the singing male Yellow-green Vireo that was discovered days earlier by Larry & Philip Manfredi. It sang persistently, and uttered a unique two-noted slurred whistle that allowed us to find it among all the singing Black-whiskered Vireos. A Florida lifer for us all! As a bonus, we found a Schaus's Swallowtail! We arrived at 0724 and left at 0841.
With Dave Goodwin and Erik Haney; heading home after a successful chase of Florida's second Spotted Towhee at Alligator Point! We were still birding, so we drove to Adams Beach to see what we could find. We arrived at 1235 and left at 1305. We next headed to Hagens Cove.
With Valeri Ponzo; a successful chase of the White-faced Ibis (not photographed), and our discovery of 2 Ross's Geese among 59 Snow Geese! We arrived at the refuge at 1630 and left at 1900, We headed to the Lighthouse Hotel in Panacea.
Several roosting in the foreground with foraging Short-billed Dowitchers.

With Valeri Ponzo; a quick stop at the barn on our way to Big Pine Key. The weather was clear and mild, with calm winds. The gnats were kind of obnoxious even though they weren't biting. We left at 0345.
With Valeri Ponzo and John Murphy; a successful search of the Sprague's Pipits, a lifer for Val and me. I did not record the weather, but it was clear and mild. We found two Brewer's Blackbirds and an albino Black-bellied Plover! We left at 1255 and treated John to a great burger lunch in town before Val and I began the long drive home.
An albino! With four normally-plumaged Black-bellied Plovers, which I strangely did not photograph.
With Valeri Ponzo and Don Fraser; birding a neighborhood that our GPS erroneously sent us to. We left at 0956 and eventually found the Allen's Hummingbird yard.
