By mouth of Mill Pond
Either a sand or a mimic shiner. Abundant in this stretch of river. Caught near shallow mats of algae.
Kind of a weird technique. I used a Lil Corky as a float with a worm below the float. After failing to catch these for a few hours, I tried pitching at them while they were subsurface and actively filtering. I set my hook 3-5 in below the float. This worked, but I don't think the fish "ate" the worm, rather it just inhaled it because it was in its path / the suction from their filtration is strong.
This fish was given to another angler to eat.
Was finally able to catch not only one, but two!
Bycatch while pulling crawler harnesses for walleye.
Old photo. Caught on a guided trip on the St. Marys River.
Accidentally snagged while fishing for Atlantic salmon.
I think all the blenny I caught were the same species. Caught on a small piece of Gulp during low tide.
Abundant in the area. Caught on a small piece of nightcrawler on a bottom rig. In spawning condition (note tubercles), but no spawning observed.
Abundant. Caught while sight fishing a school of actively feeding (and relatively aggressive) individuals. This specific fish actually chased down the bait. All photos are the same fish.
One of many caught float fishing an eddy.
Wild fish captured in a designated fishing area. Caught dipping a size 12 tan elk hair caddis in a small pool.
Thanks @pthendricks !
Caught in a shallow side channel surrounded by rosyface shiners.
Caught on a piece of cutbait.
New County Record, as far as I am aware.
