Lobster mushroom found along trail in McCormick Forest Park
Abundant young/soft annual fruiting bodies on fallen Douglas fir.
Pores: large, round(visible to naked eye).
Cap: densely hirsute, fuzzy with concentric banding.
Harvested 2 specimens.
Spore printed a single cap directly on a glass slide.
Spore print: faint creamy white.
Mounted spore printed slide in 3% KOH.
MICROSCOPY:
Spores: cylindrical to lacrymoid(tear drop shaped), smooth, medium sized.
Dehydrated both specimens for herbarium collection/genetic record.
