I put it in a small hollow of seawater and it went bezerk, going round and round at a rate or knots. I left it there

Bad photos unfortunately. But assume these wee blue dots are these copepods. Several individuals shown. I kept seeing them when i bent down to look at other things I had seen on the tideline
