We observed the pair of black vultures who were interested in the carcass of a raccoon that had been run over on the busy road. At the point my partner took these photos, the vultures had gotten a part of the roadkill and eaten most of it on the grass, occasionally lazily picking up small leftover bits. Traffic had picked up and they were evidently waiting for the road to be clear again. During a break in the traffic, one of them dragged the raccoon a bit closer to the grass, until a bunch more cars came. Bit by bit they got it all the way to the grass over a period of time. The next day, turkey vultures finished what these guys had left over in the grass.
