Contra Costa County , California .
Extremely bright yellow female
Took about 10 solid laps around the perimeter of the yard before heading west, which I found interesting. I do have two tiny milkweeds coming up in the sideyard. Sorry for the crap iPhone shots
Spotted by my wife. Was crawling along in front of us.
This little dude was making its way through the chunks of plowed snow on the side of the road, getting ready to cross. I moved it to a safer environment on the side it was headed.
Numerous young Sierran Treefrogs at Sulfer Springs pond along with red legged frogs and Diablo Range gartersnakes
I was sitting on a fallen tree and all of a sudden this individual appears out of a crack in the bark. Beautiful colors on this one.
Heard these croaking all over town and when I stepped in the courtyard of the museum, this little guy jumped in front of me.
Three color forms together .
I've been trying to find a variation of these guys since last November. My favorite one.
This Blue Oak had a massive number of this gall .
I was super surprised when one of our IV Mini Bug Camp kids caught this - great find, Jonathan!!
A first Tahoe Basin record, so far as I'm aware. Found and photographed (and posting on behalf of) Jessie Brown back in 2013
With cool temps and no nectar around, there was no way I was going to get an underwing shot. I recognize how this photo is pretty useless, but it still seemed so late in the season and surprising for any of these here, I'm posting it anyhow
