Very pale green/grey moss hanging from a tree branch. Very stringy, has thick string-like branches tangled together. "branches" are not very long, but the entirety of the moss hangs about 4 feet. Was found growing from a tree on the University of South Florida's campus. Spanish moss is usually found from southeast Virginia to Florida, and west to Texas.USDA NRCS National Plant Data Center. “Spanish Moss.” United States Department of Agriculture National Resources Conservation Service, plants.usda.gov/plantguide/pdf/cs_tius.pdf.
The squirrel's body was about (referenced from https://www.livescience.com/28182-squirrels.html ) 8 inches long and the tail was about 5 inches long. The body is a light brown with thick fluffy fur and a slightly lighter colored bushy tail. Tree squirrels tend to live in wooded areas like forests because they thrive in trees. The scientific name is Sciurus carolinensis. This animal is identifiable from the western gray squirrel because it is smaller and blend of black, white, and brown hair gives them a grayish appearance. The eastern squirrel also is more adaptable and tends to live near humans as well as in secluded nature.
