With Valeri Ponzo; we were driving separately from Miami as part of the Fairchild Tropical Gardens Birding Festival field trip to the hawkwatch at Curry Hammock State Park.
We stopped at Key Largo first, where we found a Schaus's Swallowtail (!), one of I think only 5 individuals known in Florida in 2013. I got one quick photo of the underside, but Val knew to look at the upperside for the extra yellow bar on the forewings, which she saw. A lifer!
We got much better photographs 22 Jun 2019: https://www.inaturalist.org/observations/92623529
Saw this very butterfly-like moth go by in the dark woods, waited for it to land, and of course it landed on the opposite side of a leaf deep in the tangle. That contrasting dot pattern and the angle the wings are folded look right for this species though
Location accurate, large vacant lot on Santillane ave near E Ponce de Leon Blvd
Seen during a solo bioblitz of Northeast Coral Gables. I specifically tried to find vacant lots and undeveloped green patches.

Met Mary Benton with Cami at Constitution Park to document what we could find at the butterfly circle. There was fantastic biodiversity on display!

Not sure about origin of this one, may have been a carcass discarded by the park service
