It wasn’t an otter or a muskrat. It was an American mink (Neovison vison).
I knew mink were native to California and somewhat prevalent in the Berryessa Snow Mountain National Monument region, but I’d never actually seen one in the wild before. So having one step right out in front of me was a wonderful and exciting treat.
