Alisa Schulman-Janiger, co-founder of the California Killer Whale Project, identified them as the CA51, a well-known pod that visits regularly, known for their outgoing, friendly behavior. She watched them for about an hour early morning from the Palos Verdes cliffs, then hopped on a boat to find them out at sea.
