White-crowned sparrows are found all over North America. I had thought they were a resident species in New England, turns out they only migrate through our area. White-crowned sparrows have a striking black and white striped head and a soft gray breast (with no stripes) making them a relatively easy sparrow to identify (compared to other small brown birds).
