Recently a hummingbird family has taken a home on a wire on my porch. I'm learning much about their species because of it. Like who would've known that baby hummingbirds wiggle there butts and shoot out feces. And they do this to keep their nest clean. Also I don't think before this occurred I realized how small this genus is, their nest is a inch max in diameter!!! SO COOL. And their eggs are so small it's interesting to compute. Either way I've been will continue posting observations of them and will check my game camera I set up near to see if the babies have started to fly yet its about time. I'm hoping they will return and I can find their next nest location the coming year.
Still very young only maybe a week or two old. Absolutely adorable tho.
Was setting up game camera near her nest so I could watch while I was away and she was investigating me. I recently set up a feeder for her not far from her nest filled with sugar water doing my best with consistent cleanings to make sure no disease occurs.
The more solidified feces are the mothers. And there are droppings all around the nest of her’s. And I just witnessed one of the babies shoot out feces after going closer because it was moving a lot. Thankfully I was in the opposite direction of the blast zone. And there feces are the secound 2 images.
The babies have grown so much. It’s a cold day 58 and rainy and they were shivering and huddled together.
Little eggs so incredibly tiny
Mother was investigating me as I took the camera down again.
