@summerfae Hi, you mentioned that you had worked with Globefish a lot, I'm curious if you had ever seen this in Globefish you worked with, I guess as a Zoologist you would have encountered a number of different things relation to Globefish. I hope you don't mind me asking. Thank-you Ken

Hi Ken,

I have seen lesions like this occasionally. Those I have seen are usually around the gills, mouth and eyes.

A parasitic nematode causes these in my experience. From what i observed, the parasites create a cyst that grows and then busts open. I have successfully treated Globe Fish and they have recovered very well. I would love to see some high-resolution photos if you have any. It's hard to say the cause from the photos you have in the document, and indeed from environmental photos.

Sadly I could not study the parasite when working with my Globe Fish, but often they could be seen hanging out of the gills. Perhaps we could work together to try and figure this out :)
I love this cute and curious species, they have a warm place in my heart.

Thanks for reaching out!

Hi Summer,
Thanks so much for your reply containing all the great information. I find it fascinating that you can work so closely with the Globe Fish that you can actually treat them, that's fantastic, especially for the Globe Fish.
I will try & find some Hi-Res photos to pass on. Thank-you for your interest in this, I appreciate it.

All the best.

Ken
