Master Naturalist Training 2024-09

I think I just got all my observations up from the weekend. It was a relatively small set for me, ~400 photos, because we were so busy with classes and workshops! (One day last month, I had over 1,200 photos!)

After processing, this resulted in only 66 Observations of 49 Species. However, 18 20 21 of those were new to me! So I'm happy with that.

I ws disappointed to find that most of the photos I took on "Moth Night" Saturday night (Thanks, @lamagswag!) were trashed, either way underexposed or overexposed. I was able to salvage some photos as recognizable observations. I'm not used to night photography, and I'm sure the UVs didn't make it easier on my cameras light sensor.

How about the rest of you? Any favorite observations? Cool finds?

Yours in Nature,
@xris

It's funny you say that... I thought I would have netted a lot more new species, but certainly quality over quantity.

3 new amphibians (Spring Salamander was at a stop on the way to Arnot) and 2 reptiles (red-bellied snake!), and a mammal (porcupine!). Would have liked more insects but I did not put the time in.

I think we definitely need to plan on a new moth night next season! I would also love to visit in the spring for the ephemerals that are absent here on the coastal plain.

How do I add my observations? Cant figure this out. So glad you did this! Thanks, Dick

It should be automatic. Perhaps give it time to update 24 hours after you entered the Project.

@rhwxyz123 As @lamagswag notes, you shouldn't have to do anything. It's a known issue, without a known cause. Please see the new Journal Post I just created about this problem.

@lamagswag It's not just a caching/database issue. Four other people joined before today, some over a week ago. Their stuff isn't showing up, either.
